Tempest Drum Magazine – 32 Rounds | T17 & M17 G3 Compatible — MagFed & Less-Lethal Ready

When the Tempest Drum first debuted with the Milsig M17 SMG in 2015, it became one of our most iconic setups. Now Tempest returns, redesigned from the ground up for today’s players, trainers, and tactical teams.

The Tempest Drum Mag provides 32 rounds of capacity for shaped projectiles and .68-caliber paintballs and is also engineered to work with many compatible less-lethal launchers. Its standout feature is an industry-first adjustable spring tension—allowing you to soften the feed for brittle tournament paint or increase tension to reliably feed heavier, solid projectiles used in less-lethal applications. That flexibility removes the common tradeoffs of older drums and eliminates the need to swap springs when changing munition types.

Why Tempest?

  • Tool-less operation: Open, load, adjust, and clean with the push of a button — no tools required.
  • Industry-first adjustable spring tension: Dial spring tension up or down to reliably feed brittle tournament paint or heavier solid rounds without swapping springs. This removes a major limitation of previous drum designs.
  • Fully mechanical: No batteries, no wiring, no electronics – dependable performance in wet or dirty conditions.
  • Modular feed neck: Removable feed neck with adaptor options lets Tempest work on a wide range of markers beyond the T17/M17 G3 family.
  • Separated winder & ball release: Intuitive winding and independent ball release for smoother feeding and simpler operation.
  • Magfed + Less-Lethal Ready: Designed for magfed paintball markers and compatible less-lethal launchers (check launcher fitment).

Ideal for magfed players, milsim events, force-on-force training, and teams using less-lethal launchers who need high capacity, reliable feeding, and the ability to switch projectile types quickly.

Technical specifications

  • Compatibility: Compatible only with MILSIG T17 and M17 G3 platforms (not compatible with older MILSIG models such as K-series, earlier M17 A1/A2, SMG, PMC, etc.)
  • Caliber: Designed for .68 cal rounds and shaped projectiles; also supports many heavy, less-lethal projectiles when properly adjusted.
  • Capacity: 32 rounds
  • Operation: Fully mechanical, tool-less loading and maintenance
  • Adjustable spring tension: Tune spring strength easily to feed brittle paint or heavy solid rounds without swapping hardware.
  • Other features: Removable feed neck; separated winder and ball release

Never perform a dry release. Do not release a fully wound (high-tension) EMPTY Tempest Drum Mag onto a marker or disengage it while it is under tension. A sudden release of the internal spring drive can strike and DAMAGE the feed catch or feed mechanism.

About Milsig

About Milsig:

Milsig MagFed Paintball equipment combines tactical-inspired design, durable construction and practical performance for recreational and scenario paintball players. The brand has developed a strong following among players who enjoy magazine-fed paintball and realistic equipment configurations.

Milsig focuses particularly on MagFed platforms and related equipment. As a result, its products appeal to players looking for an alternative to traditional hopper-fed paintball markers.

The range includes markers, magazines, replacement components and compatible accessories. In addition, players can customise selected platforms to suit different playing styles and equipment requirements.

Milsig MagFed Paintball Equipment:

MagFed paintball uses removable magazines rather than relying exclusively on a traditional hopper. Therefore, players need to manage ammunition and reload their equipment during games.

This style of play has become particularly popular in tactical and scenario paintball. Furthermore, MagFed equipment often features a realistic appearance and modular design.

Milsig has developed equipment specifically for this segment of the paintball market. Depending on the model, markers may offer accessory rails, removable magazines and various configuration options.

However, specifications differ between individual products. Always check the marker's caliber, magazine compatibility, air system and ammunition requirements before making your selection.

Markers, Magazines and Accessories:

Choosing the right equipment involves more than selecting a paintball marker. Compatible magazines and accessories also play an important role in building a practical MagFed setup.

For example, carrying spare magazines can make reloading more convenient during organised games. Meanwhile, compatible tactical equipment can help players organise and carry their magazines and other gear.

Replacement components can also help owners maintain existing markers. In addition, regular cleaning and correct maintenance can support reliable performance over time.

Always use magazines, projectiles, air systems and accessories that meet the specifications of your particular marker.

Milsig Products at Dye-Hard Paintball:

Dye-Hard Paintball offers a selection of Milsig products for South African paintball enthusiasts. Available products may include markers, magazines, replacement components and compatible marker accessories.

Whether you are building a new MagFed setup or maintaining existing equipment, choosing compatible components remains essential.

Furthermore, always follow the manufacturer's operating and maintenance instructions. Proper cleaning, inspection and storage can help keep your paintball equipment in good working condition.
